RC interviews Charlie’s Yard!
RC: What sparked your interest in Raceclubs? Charlie’s Yard: I first came across Raceclubs via the Ladbrokes site, I was amazed at how good it looked and soon fell in love with the game.
RC: What do you look forward to most when playing on Raceclubs? Charlie’s Yard: I always look forward to watching my horses run and if they give a good account of themselves I know I have done a good job in my placement and assessment of the horse.
RC: How does playing on Raceclubs compare to real horseracing? Charlie’s Yard: I think that in the last year Raceclubs have moved the game forward and it is getting closer to the real thing. I get the same anticipation before a race on Raceclubs as I do with a real horse race, especially when I have had a bet in the race.
RC: Tell us about your first winner and your other top horses? Charlie’s Yard: My first win was with a horse I claimed from RichMc and was a filly called “Ok Init” it was my second runner so I got off to a good start. I think my next winner came from another claimed horse called Garbage man which I claimed from Blues 7.
RC: Tell us about you best win and why it meant so much? Charlie’s Yard: Best win was when Big Ten battled from behind twice to win a 2850 qualifier, although his first challenge win over 2200 was special and unexpected. After a poor run in the challenge final he then went on to win the world challenge day race over 3200 beating some of the best colts on the site.
RC: List some of your top achievements? Charlie’s Yard: Most memorable achievement would be making the Juvenile challenge final last season, wining 2 Qualifier with Big Ten, and staying in profit since January 05, also reaching 500 runners is something I have been looking forward to.
RC: What do you typically do before a big race? Charlie’s Yard: Before a big race I do get quite nervous, I usually come out of my stable about 6 minutes before the race and then get the viewer up and start the countdown to the race.
RC: Tell us about your most memorable moments on Raceclubs? Charlie’s Yard: One of the most memorable moments was when Honkey Tonkin won a group1 race over 2850 at a price of 52-1 and having a fiver on was great, also getting Big Ten my challenge horse from a single purchase from the sales ring on a Saturday night.
RC: What are your goals for your future racing at Raceclubs? Charlie’s Yard: Future aims are to stay in profit and increase my overall place and win rate of 58%.
RC: What advice would you give to new Raceclubs members? Charlie’s Yard: Best advice I could give to a new member is to play at a level you are comfortable with and not to chase after challenge horses, set yourself a budget and stick to it, if you don’t get what you want then race with what you’ve got. Claimers are a great way of getting your stable up and running, The forums are a great source of information and there are always members willing to help with your questions.
RC: Name the best horse, in your opinion, belonging to a fellow member? Charlie’s Yard: The best filly in my opinion is Ken Allen’s Lady Killer, and the Clan’s ZeusZ for the colts.
RC: What is your favourite real horseracing event? Charlie’s Yard: The Cheltenham gold cup RC: Are you involved in real horseracing and if so to what extent? Charlie’s Yard: Only as a punter.
